John Miller is a native of Milwaukee, WI and has had a lifelong interest in pipe organs, orchestrions, organ clocks, and tower clocks. After several summers with Nolte Organ Building & Supply of West Allis, WI, he moved to Germany for a 3.5 year apprenticeship in pipe organ building. In Germany, he received practical training at Orgelbau Schulte of Kürten and Johannes Klais Orgelbau of Bonn. He received training in organbuilding theory at the Oscar-Walcker-Schule in Ludwigsburg. John received the Journeyman Certificate from the Industrie- und Handelskammer Bonn in February of 2019. In March of 2019, he returned to Milwaukee and started his own business (John J. Miller Mechanical Organ & Clock Works, LLC). Along with maintaining around 100 pipe organs in Wisconsin, John has restored and actively maintains orchestrions, fairground organs, and musical clocks for museums, collectors, and tourist attractions all over the United States.
